I had to title this day TOPES because they are such a classic Mexican phenomenon. Topes are simply speed bump.
Sunday. A day to hang around, talk, transition to these last two and 1/2 weeks of being here. Time to assess. On the plus side, on the not so plus side. That kind of thing. I will explain more of this another time.
Nice naps in the afternoon and reading time. Then I went with Leslie and Rudy to the Liverpool Mall to get pedicures. Such a lovely and generous birthday gift from my buddies!
Evening time we walked over to the taco place by Las Moras and had some food and then caught the bus to the ocean side. The sunset was stunning and we felt that good to be alive feeling.
Strolled a bit, had a drink at the Toro hotel bar and talked with a mother and daughter from the Seattle area. Mom was 78, daughter was 58. She sells real estate in Seattle and of course is in a boom time now! The mom had been on a trip to Kenya last year to help bring water to a community. Clean water that is. She has been both an engineer and pilot in this lifetime. We are reminded of the Bonnie Raitt song:
We Used to Rule the World

It's easy to come to these places where so many OLDer people gather and ....groan. Bemoan. Am I done? How do I accept the aging process? All that.
Here's the deal though. As always, when there's an opportunity to talk 1:1, there is a person there with stories to share, perspectives to learn from, and life to connect to.
And then it all seems OK.
Tomorrow Sonya, Hazel and Alex arrive! It's a good time for them to come. We have been here long enough to settle in, to have our time and now can welcome others.
